I also extend my help to other artists and creatives who are looking for guidance and accountability as they navigate towards their goals. Through conversation and reflection I will help you determine what you should be doing and how you should be doing it.
So what can you expect?
1. This is about you and where you want to go. We’ll have conversations where we’ll get to the heart of your issues and determine actionable steps to get you to where you want to go with your creative work. Being able to talk routinely about everything you’ve been doing is vital to keeping you heading in the right direction. This isn’t just talking about a project or client or event you have coming up and working on the details of that. You probably are talking with people involved with that already (if not, we can talk about that too!). This is about getting your big picture goals in line and figuring out how to get there. Rather than asking “is this the right material for this project?”, we’ll be asking questions more like “is this project right for me?”
2. I’ll make sure you’re heading in the right direction. I’ll act as your accountability enforcer. One of the biggest things for artists/creatives who run things themselves is to have outside accountability. Again, people you’re working with on specific projects can keep you focused on those tasks, but who is keeping you focused on your bigger goals? These larger ideals, values, and goals can often get overlooked in the everyday hustle and bustle. If you’re not hitting these, there’s no one pointing that out to you. That’s where I come in.
3. I’m here to support you. I’ll help you keep your chin up during tough times and celebrate with you when you have a victory. I want to see you succeed and I’ll be invested in your journey every step of the way.
Here are some thoughts from someone I’ve been helping out with her artistic career goals:
“My coaching sessions started with Matt when I was thinking about going back to school for a degree in cello performance. I took a look at the tuition prices at all the nearby conservatories and realized I could save many thousands of dollars by putting together my own educational program. I asked Matt to help me with this process, and he has been awesome. He has provided friendly but firm encouragement through the whole process of clarifying my goals, setting my priorities, and taking specific steps towards accomplishing what I want to accomplish. I have never felt so disciplined and motivated about my cello playing, and it feels great. I can’t recommend Matt enough.”
